Abstract

The permeability, diffusivity and solubility of hydrogen isotopes (H, D) in a Li–Pb eutectic alloy are measured in the temperature range from 573 to 973K using a permeation method. Their isotope effects between H and D are obtained. It is shown that the solubility of hydrogen isotopes in Li–Pb obeys the Sieverts’ law. The solubility of D is around 1.4 times larger than that of H. The isotope effect of the diffusivity between H and D is very small.
