Abstract

This article focuses on realization of UWB wireless sensor system for locomotive engine parameters. We used «On-Off Keying» modulation scheme, energy detection technology and asynchronous transfer mode in this system. Different thermal and pressure sensors were grouped based on their location in 4 data acquisition and processing units with UWB transmitters. FPGA is base of 4-channel receiver and control unit. Packet formats and physical link implementation features are presented. Construction of data acquisition and processing unit, UWB pulse generator, analog and digital part of receiver are considered.Realized UWB wireless sensor system was preliminarily tested. Signals parameters are equal to expected ones. Further, the system was tested on working locomotive engine. Transmitters were located at a distance from 1.5 to 4.5 meters. Working of all sensors were proved to be efficient. The percentage of correctly received packets was obtained as performance indicator.
