Abstract

The polarizing efficiency in the (111) reflection from a large single crystal of Fe3-xMnxSi (x = 0.05) has been found to be 95%. Such crystals should therefore be well suited as polarizers for slow neutrons. The intensity is a factor between 2 and 3 higher than obtained from single crystals of Co(Fe). Similar values were also obtained in the (222) reflection from an ordered Li-ferrite crystal (Li0.5 Fe2.5 O4).
