Abstract

An experimental study is proposed to investigate the effects of corrosion-induced cracking damage on the static behavior of corroded RC arch ribs. Four circular RC arch ribs (an uncorroded arch rib and three accelerated corroded arch ribs) are designed and made in the laboratory conditions. The concrete cracking and section damage induced by corrosion is discussed in detail with experimental observations. Following this, a five-loading test is conducted, and the propagation of cracks, the load-displacement response, the ultimate load bearing capacity and the failure modes of arch ribs are presented.
