Abstract

In the present world, vehicles using engines is vanishing due to the increase in global warming and scarcity of gasoline. In the meantime Electric Vehicles have been introduced and they had already created a huge impact in the society. But, the major problem with this electric vehicles is the heating of batteries. Initially when an electric vehicles is bought they will travel to the prescribed distance after charged as mentioned by the company. But after sometime this millage starts to decrease due to the heating of the battery. Our main objective is to prevent the battery from getting over heating and maintaining it in the working temperature thereby eliminating the problem of millage reduction. In order to decrease the temperature from the batteries we are using Nano Fluids as coolant. The nano fluid that we use is Copper oxide (CuO). It has been chosen due to its low cost and it has good temperature distribution on the base surface. The nano fluids are poured with copper oxide solid particles whose diameter should be below 900µm. The batteries that we are going to test is the Lithium-Ion battery. The channel that we have chosen is the micro-channel heat sink, it has been chosen because of its large heat transfer capacity and large heat transfer coefficient. The micro channel is designed to be of a wavy structure so that it has high efficiency and provides a good performance. With the help of this approach the efficiency of batteries can be maintained and the performance of electric vehicles will be improved further.
