Abstract

Purpose of the Study: The study of the problems that arise in the process of forming meaningful statements about reality that are created within graduate students, an analysis of the transition from an intuitive view of reality to a theoretical understanding, revealing the logic of the development of ideas about reality in modern philosophy of the twentieth century. Methodology: Authors conducted a group problem survey on the topic: “The problem of reality in modern philosophy” among graduate students. The written survey suggested a free form of an answer to an open question: An analytical review was carried out according to the survey. Main Findings: Comprehension of the nature of reality is a necessary step in the formation of the scientific worldview of graduate students, and the basis of their conceptual work. Analysis of classical texts, their comparison, and assessment (using the example of studying the problem of reality) allow not only to use a particular methodological construction but also to investigate the method itself. Applications of this study: This study may be applicable in training, development, and theoretical work in the process of teaching the course “History and Philosophy of Science” for graduate students. Moreover, it could be used in a research study on the modern philosophy of the twentieth century, the psychology of scientific creativity, and the pedagogy of higher education. Novelty of this study: The article presents the authors’ experience of communication with graduate students while forming their ideas about reality. Its features are characterized not only by clarification of initial ideas and their scientific analysis but also by building a personality-oriented learning strategy. The article can serve as a theoretical basis for further study of the problem of reality in modern philosophy.
