This work presents a systematic philosophical analysis of society’s digital transformation, focusing on changes occurring under the influence of digital technologies and artificial intelligence. The concept of a “third space” is conceptualised as a new hybrid “weakened” reality, where physical and virtual dimensions form an inseparable unity, leading to the transformation of human subjectivity characterised by the emergence of distributed identity in the digital space. Special attention is paid to the problem of artificial intelligence opacity through the lens of the inexplicability and incomprehensibility of algorithmic systems. Existential risks of digitalisation are examined, including threats to personal autonomy, the formation of “algorithmic determinism”, and new forms of alienation. Based on the analysis, principles for a responsible approach to digital transformation are formulated. The research contributes to the development of the philosophy of digital technologies as an interdisciplinary field uniting social philosophy, philosophy of technology, digital ethics, phenomenology, and critical theory.

A MATTER OF UNDERSTANDING DIGITAL RIGHTS
  • Jun 23, 2025
  • Olena Kharytonova + 1 more

The paper demonstrates that digital changes in society call for a theoretical rethinking of traditional legal concepts and the creation of a legal mechanism to regulate, implement, and safeguard subjective rights and obligations of a natural person in a digital environment. The enjoying of individuals rights at the national and international level is directly impacted by digital transformation. An evolution of law is triggered by the emergence of a digital economy and the intensive development of digital technologies, which has already been expressed in the appearance of new objects of law, forms of law, ways of implementing the right, and so forth. The influence of digital technology is leading to the transformation of law, as evidenced by these events. As a result of digital transformation, individuals’ rights and duties as participants in the digital space are evolving. The study examines the emergence of new rights that are justified by the development of digital society. Such as: the right to digital identity, the right to privacy on the network, the right to be forgotten, the right to offline or the right to disconnect, the right to be informed about interaction with AI, etc. The category of “digital rights” is used in the context of digital society and the digital economy. However, the meaning of this concept is not consistent. Digital rights are understood as universal human rights adapted to the conditions of the information society, in particular the right to privacy, the right to exchange information, the right to freedom of expression on the network, the right to access the electronic network. The term ‘rights to communicate’ or ‘rights to information’ is used to mean the same thing as ‘digital right’, but there is no clear distinction between them. The attempt to provide clarification between this definition are made in this paper. The development of digital law is now underway to create a set of legislative acts that govern legal relations that are happening in the digital environment. The development of legal acts to handle digital things, the ethical use of artificial intelligence and big data, strict regulation of remote automatic identification of individuals by biometrics, and the growing importance of an anthropocentric approach in the use of technologists, etc. are all related to this process. The proposal suggests that digital rights, which are subjective rights, should be perceived as a combination of property and non-property rights that safeguard a person’s capacity to operate in digital (virtual) space.

  • E A Annenkova

The relevance of the problem under study is due to the active transition of banks into the digital space. The desire of banks to reduce costs, diversify the product line, increase customer loyalty, increase the profitability of operations, etc. involves the banking sector in the process of digital transformation. Digital transformations in the banking market inevitably entail a rethinking of the views of users and participants of these financial relations. The purpose of the article is to consider the mechanism of digital transformation of Russian banks in modern conditions. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to define digital transformation, identify and characterize digital technology models, analyze the factors influencing digital banking transformation, identify the stages of the digital transformation process of banks and characterize the types of banking business models after the transformation. The theoretical and methodological basis of the article was the scientific work of Russian and foreign scientists and agencies. In the course of writing the work, general scientific methods of cognition used in economics were used, adapted taking into account the emerging nature of digital technology markets. The work also uses a set of scientific approaches and methods, such as systematic and integrated approaches, methods of logical, comparative and statistical analysis. Methodological approaches are based on theoretical and methodological research of the potential of the latest digital technologies, analysis of opportunities and problems that these technologies provide. The article proposes to consider digital transformation as a process involving the introduction of various innovative technological solutions into the activities of banks, radically changing the ways and channels of providing services to customers. 4 models of digital technology transformation are identified and characterized: confederate, joint service, strategic competence centers model and operational model. It is concluded that Russian banks are striving for an operating model, but in the long term due to the prevailing growth factors and constraints. The presence of a sufficiently large number of stop factors that slow down the digital transformation in banks has been revealed: the Russian mentality, the lack of external and insufficient internal financing, the lack of qualified personnel, etc. A forecast has been made about erasing the edge of the bank as a financial institution, and turning into a way of life. Practical application is possible when creating a digital strategy of the bank, and the deepening of the study should be carried out taking into account the reduction of risks, including cyber threats.

The development of the digital economy is changing all aspects of the economic environment. Businesses are undergoing a transformation in the size, ways of doing business and interaction with key economic structures. This is leading to a rethinking of the main tasks of business administration and management under the influence of digital technologies. These technologies, based on the capabilities of the Internet, form digital platforms for business, where it is possible to conduct transactions, collect data, select and compare counterparties, and conduct financial transactions. Current realities also reinforce the need for digital transformation of domestic business. The article considers the relevance of digital transformation of Ukrainian business in the context of numerous challenges caused by the war in Ukraine. The article analyses the innovative opportunities offered by digital transformation for the development of enterprises. It is noted that the introduction of advanced technologies, such as Big Data or artificial intelligence (AI), allows optimising the management process, analysing data to make operational decisions, providing individual offers to customers and forecasting the market dynamics of the enterprise. The study also emphasises that in the context of the war, the European Innovation Council has provided €20 million in support for the development of innovations in Ukraine to improve the digital transformation of Ukrainian businesses. The article emphasises the benefits of digital transformation for domestic business and identifies that in 2022 there was a decline in the digital transformation of Ukrainian business due to the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Supporting businesses during the military conflict is becoming an important task, but its implementation is complicated by disruptions in production and logistics chains, constant shelling, and internal migration. Despite all these difficulties, various projects have been developed for entrepreneurs to improve the digital transformation of domestic businesses under martial law. Further research is planned to focus on the main aspects of the digital transformation of business processes in the context of war and post-conflict recovery in Ukraine.

  • Mengmeng Meng + 3 more

While the influence of digital technologies on firms’ innovation performance has been examined in the digital transformation literature, the mechanism by which digital transformation affects innovation quality has remained largely unexplored. By analyzing a longitudinal sample of 17,216 China’s A-share listed companies from 2009 to 2021 (excluding real estate and financial firms), we employed a fixed-effects regression model to investigate the impact of digital transformation on strategic risk-taking behavior. The findings indicate that digital transformation significantly enhances innovation quality. Market competition enhances the positive effect of digital transformation on innovation quality. Further analysis reveals that digital transformation has a positive impact on dynamic capability, which in turn mediates the relationship between digital transformation and innovation quality. Furthermore, digital transformation breaks down the barriers to innovation quality by reducing financing costs and financing constraints. These findings have implications for firms’ digital strategy in emerging economies.

  • Jan 1, 2025
  • Aleksander Ostenda + 1 more

In the twenty-first century, the global community faces an unprecedented transformation of all spheres of human activity under the influence of digital technologies. The integration of artificial intelligence, data analytics, network communication, and automation has profoundly reshaped education, the economy, and applied science. The increasing interdependence between technological innovation and social development calls for a new vision of how individuals are educated, how businesses operate, and how specialized technical solutions are implemented. The present monograph is devoted to analysing these processes through the lens of contemporary international experience, emphasizing the synergy between technological progress and human capital development. The first chapter, “Innovative Technologies in Education and Vocational Training,” explores the role of digitalization and innovation in transforming the educational landscape. Today, the integration of electronic social networks, digital learning platforms, and artificial intelligence tools not only modernizes the traditional learning process but also creates an interactive environment that enhances students’ motivation, collaboration, and creativity. The works presented in this section examine various dimensions of educational transformation – from the formation of digital literacy and managerial competencies to the psychological well-being of future professionals. Special attention is paid to the investment and economic aspects of university digitalization, the formation of soft skills as a key component of employability, and the application of cognitive-behavioural approaches to preventing professional burnout among educators. The chapter also highlights the importance of linguistic and media literacy as indicators of educational quality and global competitiveness. In this context, Ukrainian scholars provide valuable insights into how the digital transition supports the integration of national higher education institutions into the European and international academic space. The second chapter, “Digital Transformation of the Economy and Management,” focuses on how technological innovation reshapes economic structures, business models, and governance systems. The digitalization of marketing, banking, and entrepreneurship introduces new forms of interaction between producers, consumers, and state institutions. The contributions in this section investigate key issues such as the use of information technologies to enhance marketing efficiency, the role of public–private partnerships in developing geoinformation systems, and the management of financial strategies under wartime economic conditions in Ukraine. The authors demonstrate that digital tools not only improve decision-making and risk management but also enable more transparent, data-driven public administration. Special attention is devoted to innovative approaches in tourism, agriculture, and investment management, including the application of machine learning (ML) methods and nanotechnologies. Collectively, these studies provide a comprehensive picture of the on-going digital transformation of Ukraine’s economic environment and its integration into the global digital economy. The third chapter, “Applied and Specialized Technology Solutions,” presents research at the intersection of digital engineering, artificial intelligence, and applied sciences. It highlights how technology-driven innovations contribute to improving the efficiency and sustainability of industrial processes, engineering education, and environmental management. Topics include the integration of AI in project-based language instruction, experimental studies of machining accuracy, and the use of geographic information systems (GIS) for monitoring environmental safety and biodiversity. The authors also address emerging applications of machine learning for analyzing acoustic signatures of heavy machinery, AI-assisted project management, and the digital preservation of architectural heritage. By bridging theoretical knowledge with practical implementation, this chapter demonstrates how applied technological solutions can serve as catalysts for industrial modernization and sustainable development. Across all three chapters, the monograph emphasizes the interdisciplinary character of modern innovation. The digital age requires not only technical proficiency but also adaptability, ethical awareness, and cross-sector collaboration. Education becomes the foundation for economic progress, while applied research translates knowledge into tangible social and technological outcomes. The Ukrainian context, marked by challenges of modernization and resilience under conditions of geopolitical instability, adds particular urgency to the issues discussed. Yet, it also reveals the creative potential of Ukrainian scientists, educators, and innovators to generate effective models of technological integration that can be adopted internationally. Ultimately, this collective work seeks to contribute to the global dialogue on how innovation can foster human-centered progress. By uniting perspectives from education, economics, and applied technologies, it underscores the idea that digital transformation is not merely a technological process but a cultural and intellectual evolution. It challenges traditional paradigms, redefines professional competencies, and expands the boundaries of interdisciplinary research. The insights gathered in this monograph are intended to support scholars, educators, policymakers, and practitioners in developing sustainable strategies for navigating the complexities of the digital era.

The formation of an economic mechanism for developing business processes in digital transformation is driven by profound changes occurring in global and national economies under the influence of digital technologies. Digitalization encompasses virtually all areas of economic activity, reshaping business models, principles of customer interaction, resource management, and internal process organization. Under such conditions, traditional economic management mechanisms are losing their effectiveness, necessitating their revision and adaptation to the new digital reality. This article examines forming an economic mechanism for developing business processes in digital transformation. The study explores the features of digital transformation in business, its key advantages, and the factors hindering digitalization. It identifies the institutional foundations for managing business processes under digital transformation that must be considered when developing an economic mechanism. It is established that institutional support is the foundation of the economic mechanism upon which modern business process management policies should be built. Digital transformation risks remain declarative rather than adequate without a proper institutional environment. It is emphasized that in the current economic landscape, marked by rapid technological changes, globalization, and intense competition, a reliable institutional framework is fundamental for entrepreneurship’s stable functioning and development. It is substantiated that the economic mechanism for managing business processes in the context of digital transformation should be understood as a complex, multidimensional system that influences business operations. This system includes regulatory and legal frameworks, digital and informational infrastructure, methodological and institutional support, digital tools, impact factors, and specific operational features. It is also oriented towards shifting individual and collective value orientations toward European and Euro-Atlantic integration, economic decarbonization, restoration of territorial integrity, and the rule of law. Keywords: business, business processes, economic mechanism, institutional support, digital transformation, digitalization, national and regional economy.

Cybersecurity in Digital Transformation
  • Jan 1, 2023
  • Dietmar P F Möller

Digital transformation is a global phenomenon, capturing the attention in every industry and spurring major investment. However, digital transformation is not a single objective; it is a multifaceted approach depending on the goals of the respective industry and digital maturity. Thus, digital transformation is the way of change from a monolithic business approach to fully digitized business concepts. Therefore, Chap. 1 introduces us to relevant definitions on digital transformation and their main technological background. One major concern in digital transformation is the confluence of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Analytics, Blockchain, Cloud Computing and Services, Internet of Things and Industrial Internet of Things, and others. In this regard, Cloud Computing and Services achieve a new generation of Artificial Intelligence, applied in an increasing number of industrial applications with unprecedented results. Besides this, the Internet of Things connects industrial devices and entities within industrial value chains and infrastructure, however, generating terabytes of data every day, which requires Big Data and Analytics to deal with them. Therefore, the digital transformation has a huge impact on industrial control systems and processes, as well as on the Key Performance Indicator (KPI). Moreover, emerging technologies also will have a huge impact on the realization of circular economy in the industrial sectors, a paradigm in today’s digital transformation in industrial, public, and private discussion to reduce the greenhouse effect. Against this background, digital transformation has received a great attention in all industrial, public, and private organizations, which will be fundamentally changing operational business approaches in all sectors. Hence, the transformation of organizations through digitization and emerging technologies can be referred to as a technological wave, such as the third and now the fourth industrial transformation. In this context, the fourth industrial transformation optimizes computerization of the third through digitization, wireless infrastructure networks, intelligent algorithms, and others, which today is known as digital transformation paradigm. Thus, digitization and technologies in digital transformation create, and consequently change, market offerings, business processes, or business models, which result from the use of both. However, the intrinsic complexity of digital transformation also makes cybersecurity awareness a sine qua non. Cybersecurity deals with the presence of cyber attackers with their cybercriminal attack repertoire. Cybercrime causes $ 100 billion and more in damage annually, which means cybercriminal attack prevention has a clear need to address it. However, cybersecurity spans many areas, including, but not limited to, data security, information security, operational security, and others. Moreover, cybersecurity is fundamental to both protecting secret data and information and enabling their defense. Therefore, cybersecurity is understood as a body of knowledge with regard to technologies, processes, and practices designed to protect computer systems, networks, infrastructure resources, and others, from cyber-criminal attacks, damage, manipulation, or unauthorized access. In this context, Chap. 1 introduce in Sect. 1.1 into the manifold aspects of digital transformation with their great impact on industrial, public, and private organizations development, enhancing their business success. Section 1.2 focusses on emerging technologies required and used in digital transformation, presented in twenty Subsections. Against this background, Section 1.3 discusses the challenges of digital transformation in industrial businesses, while Sect. 1.4 introduces applications in digital transformation. Section 1.5 answers the question how to become a leader in digital transformation. Section 1.6 introduces the topic cybersecurity, taking into account knowledge about the interaction of digitization and emerging technologies to gain knowledge about cybersecurity risks through threat event attacks. In this sense, Section 1.6 also focusses on the CIA Triad and the actionable knowledge in cybersecurity that is still paramount. Finally, Section 1.7 describes the challenges of digital transformation to build up a circular economy. Section 1.8 contains comprehensive questions from the topics digital transformation, cybersecurity, and circular economy, followed by references for further reading section.

This study uses comprehensive analysis, methods of synthesis, induction, deduction, and expert research using information and communication technologies.Results. In the context of the digital economy, it is necessary to create a flexible organizational structure of companies, since the goal of the top management is not only to increase the capitalization of the business, but also to form an image of the brand using the methods of collaboration, strengthening of horizontal ties, and intellectual capital in the digital space. Modern management is focused on the intensive development of big data technologies and makes allowance for the increased role of precision work with clients, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence. Justification of the IT strategy, correct description of business processes based on cloud computing, BPM and SBPM technologies, and development of open interfaces are key factors for the sustainable operation of innovative companies.Conclusions. The evolution of management under the influence of digital technologies has led to the reformatting of the companies' life cycle. In the long term, economic entities can achieve competitive advantages by developing innovative formats and the geography of customer presence in the network space. Cloud technologies, virtual space, e-commerce, web portals, and automated systems have a great effect on the correction of priorities of predicted scenarios for the development of business structures. Modern management is characterized by an increasing amount of investment of multinational corporations in the segments of technological chains with "mass demand". Internet games, e-commerce, centers for storing and processing information and analytical databases are the priority areas for the development of management. Intellectual capital, collection, storage, and processing speed of an array of statistical data have become a prerequisite for progressive economic growth. The transformation of the organizational forms of traditional business models has influenced the evolution of the role of companies, which are becoming an integral part of the digital ecosystem, since the ownership and processing of information and analytical data make it possible to ensure competitive advantages and to obtain the effect achieved by optimizing network interaction between economic entities. Companies on the core of digital ecosystems are adjusting their long-term development strategy under the influence of integrated management effects in a single network. The reformatting of management has occurred as a result of the development of new organizational forms of value creation within the ecosystem, which has reduced the consequences of external and internal risks of the world market using flexible and innovative forms of interaction between economic entities. In the digital economy, the high adaptability of network coordination and intersectoral interaction in innovation processes based on collective intellectual property has increased the effectiveness of management.
