Abstract
In this project, the effect of considering the coupling of automatic voltage regulator (AVR) loop to the load frequency control (LFC) of multi area hybrid power system (MAHPS) is demonstrated. In this regard, MAHPS is targeted with deviation in 10% step load (10%SLP) on area-1. Classical PID is chosen for both the LFC-AVR loops as secondary regulator. Water cycle algorithm (WCA) is implemented to fine-tune PID gains subjected to integral time square error (ITSE) index minimization for optimal regulation. Efficacy of WCA approach is demonstrated up on comparing with other algorithms like differential evolution (DE) and grey wolf optimizer (GWO) techniques. Later, simulation analysis is performed on MAHPS with out and with considering the coupling of AVR to reveal its effect on LFC performance.
