Abstract

A (2+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation is under investigation, which can be used to describes optical pulse propagation in a nonlocal optical fibers. The analytical first and second order optical rogue wave solutions were constructed via the similarity transformation. Through choosing the free function in the solutions as hyperbolic secant function, some novel optical rogue waves are excited. The characteristics of the rogue waves are graphically demonstrated. The parameters in the solutions can be used to control the shape, amplitude and scale of the rogue waves.
