Abstract

India's aspirations to evolve as key player in the global knowledge economy makes engineering education more critical. Being one of the largest Indian engineering education systems in the world, its competitiveness is evidently dependent on the availability of skilled and trained graduates. India has already entered into a golden age of engineering education to transform its youth potential into effective human resources. Outcome Based Education (OBE) model is being adopted at a fast pace in most of the Indian engineering institutions. It is considered as a giant leap forward to improve technical education in India by producing competitive engineers in the global market. Therefore, it is necessary and important to carry out a proper attainment method in order to measure student learning achievement and to predict the student's performance in future. This paper presents a case study of assessing the attainment of programme outcomes for Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme based on direct and indirect assessment methods as laid down by National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
