Abstract
Palladium-catalyzed bond-formation between alkynes and aryl halides and triflates is as fascinating today as it was nearly 30 years ago when such reactions were introduced by Sonogashira (see scheme; OTf=CF3SO3). More facile procedures, new acetylide coupling partners, and more efficient catalysts and ligand systems all combine to expand the limits of this versatile reaction.
