Abstract

Magnetization measurements on bulk Nd5Ge3 sample show that the compound undergoes two transitions; one is an AF transition at about 45 K and the other at about 30 K. We show that this compound exhibits spin glass characteristics at temperatures below 30 K, thereby indicating that it is a reentrant spin glass (RSG) system. Detailed analysis of static and dynamic susceptibilities, relaxation effects and heat capacity data point towards the spin glass state at low temperatures.
