Abstract

Immunoglobulin D (IgD) is an enigmatic antibody isotype typically coexpressed with IgM in naïve B cells. However, monomeric IgD comprises approximately 8% of human nasal secreted immunoglobulin and an IgM-IgD+CD27+ memory B-cell population has been recently described in nasal mucosa and tonsils. A role for IgD in chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) remains unexplored and we tested the hypothesis that IgD is elevated in patients with CRS and characterized the IgD+ cells.
