Abstract
Aim: We aimed to evaluate the association between patient characteristics and the histopathological diagnosis of endometrium, as well as to evaluate the association between endometrial thickness (ET) and histopathological diagnosis among women with post-menopausal bleeding (PMB). Materials and methods: Based on the pelvic examination of 67 women with PMB; patient characteristics and findings were recorded. All women were evaluated by transvaginal sonography and endometrial biopsy (EMB). Results: The PMB time of endometrial adenocarcinoma (EAC) patients was 22.3 days on average, much longer than for others. The body mass index of EAC patients has been found to be higher than in other patients. Conclusion: Almost 4.5% of patients with PMB were diagnosed with EAC, leading us to recommend that all patients with PMB should be tested for EMB. Special consideration should be given to patients with prolonged PMB and those who are obese.
