Abstract

The vestibular system functions more actively in individuals who are visually impaired in vertical posture maintenance as a compensation for the lack of visual stimuli. This compensation is a result of the special role played by the vestibular and labyrinthine reflex due to the absence of visual sensory signal. The literature contains inconclusive and limited results on the possibility of compensating for balance in individuals with visual impairment. Hence the current study was carried out to strengthen the literature.
