Abstract

Recognition of injury to the central nervous system (CNS) is not usually difficult in the acutely traumatized patient. However, evaluation of the extent of the injury may present a clinical challenge and may determine the final outcome of the case. In the first “golden moments” when every move is important and every mistake may be catastrophic, the clinician must carefully assess the neurologic damage and proceed accordingly.
