Abstract
A preliminary report has been presented of the characteristics of a new multifilament stainless steel wire suture. It has been found to possess a high degree of flexibility and not to kink. When compared with sutures of silk, cotton and catgut of the same diameter, the wire suture was found to possess greater tensile strength and to cause less tissue reaction in rabbits. A limited clinical trial has been conducted with satisfactory results.
