The main purpose of this paper is to present a comprehensive view of the application mathematical models in the designing and implementing SSCM beside to solving problems and making decision.  The research questions are: what kind of mathematical models are used for designing and implementing sustainable supply chain management, how to use them, which industries implemented in, what modules of SSCM depth in and finally finding the gaps between the goals of Sustainable development and current researches and suggestions for further researches. 
 
 The methodology of the research is Systematic Literature review and evaluation peer review papers which are published in high ranking journals: First, we gather all papers through scientific data bases like Scopus, science direct, MDPI, Springer, Google Scholar. Then, screening papers based on the criteria such as object of paper, subject of paper, journals impact factor, peer review paper, and relative content of the papers. Finally, we selected 245 papers through three steps screening from 2806 papers that they have enough quality and relative to our research goals for context analysis. 
 
 For context analysis: First we categorize the information of the papers and draw the current situation of researches in the framework of our topic. Then, we evaluate and compare the goals of sustainability and current situation and find the gapes, then, offer suggestions required researches for pollutant industries such as Casting Industry, Heavy Industry, Coal Industry and so on. On the other hand, there are gaps in researches in some modules of SSCM such as packaging, designing products, etc.

THE SHARING ECONOMY BUSINESS MODEL OF E-SCOOTERS IN THE CONTEXT OF SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION

The aim of this study is to examine the integration of electric scooters (e-scooters) into sustainable transportation systems within a conceptual framework from the perspective of the sharing economy business model by addressing sharing economy applications in the context of sustainability and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study also aims to examine and discuss the ecological footprint and environmental gains of these micro-mobility tools on a scientific basis, especially by addressing the environmental sustainability dimensions of shared e-scooters. In the study the systematic review method was adopted and the relevant literature on was searched using seven academic databases with high national and international recognition and reliability: Academic Search Elite (EBSCO), ScienceDirect, SAGE Journals Online, Taylor & Francis Online, Emerald Premier, ProQuest - Science Database (ProQuest) and Google Scholar. The search was conducted using the keywords "Sharing Economy", "Sustainability", "Sustainable Development Goals", "Sustainable Transportation" and "Shared Electric Scooters" and covered the years 2008-2025 without any language restrictions. All the studies obtained were subjected to title and abstract, and then full text review, and at the end of the process, 90 academic studies that were found suitable for inclusion in the study were interpreted and integrated into the study. The results indicate that the shared usage model promoted by the sharing economy can contribute to sustainability and sustainable development by enabling more efficient and effective resource utilization. Adopting an access-based model instead of ownership-oriented approaches has been found to have the potential to generate significant environmental benefits in the context of sustainable transportation, particularly by reducing traffic congestion, lowering carbon emissions, and minimizing air pollution through shared e-scooter use. Furthermore, it is emphasized that, with appropriate infrastructure improvements and the implementation of regulatory policies, shared e-scooters could play a significant role in helping cities achieve their sustainability goals.

Multi-Criteria Decision Making Models for Sustainable and Green Supply Chain Management Based on Fuzzy Approach

Understanding different aspects of sustainability, supply chain management (SCM), and decision making policies and relating them to performance measurement have been increasingly investigated in the last decade. In contrast to traditional SCM, which typically focuses on economic and financial business performance, sustainable SCM (SSCM) is characterized by explicit integration of environmental or social objectives which extend the economic dimension. For evaluating the sustainability of SCM as well as its greenness, we have to consider many and different index and criteria. One of the best tools for assessing the SSCM and GSCM is multicriteria decision making (MCDM) techniques. Many studies have been conducted in this area. Moreover, there are many uncertainty factors which may reduce the accuracy of MCDM result. Actually, Uncertainty is always a worsening factor in any decision support models, and dilutes the planned objectives of such models. For decreasing this uncertainty, fuzzy logic has been combined with MCDM approach. In fact, the main purpose of this chapter is considering the recent studies in area of SSCM and GSCM regarding to applications of fuzzy MCDM techniques. At the end of this chapter, based on out investigations in applications of fuzzy MCDM in SSCM and GSCM and regarding to research gaps, some suggestions for future studies have been proposed.

Sustainable halal food supply chain management in a small rentier halal market

PurposeThere is limited knowledge of the sustainable halal food supply management in Brunei Darussalam (Brunei), although it is reputable in the halal economy and advocates the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Therefore, this paper highlights issues faced in a small, rentier halal market and proposes sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) initiatives for halal-certified food companies in Brunei.Design/methodology/approachThis paper draws data from published academic research and employs a normative and narrative assessment of SSCM and halal supply chain literature.FindingsFour normative SSCM initiatives and propositions that could be implemented by Brunei halal-certified food businesses in achieving the SDGs are highlighted: responsible sourcing, environmental purchasing, sustainable packaging and green transportation.Practical implicationsThis viewpoint paper provides a basis for achieving the “Brunei Vision 2035” through a sustainable supply chain lens that may increase well-being and develop a productive and sustainable economy. It also lays a foundation for realising the SDGs, specifically Goal 12 of Sustainable Consumption and Production.Originality/valueThe dedicated attention to smaller halal markets, such as Brunei, would enrich the literature, reveal unforeseen issues or address gaps in the domains of SSCM and halal food supply chains.

An assessment of sustainable supply chain management practices in the upstream pharmaceutical industry of Ghana

The drive for the adoption of Sustainable Supply Chain Management practices among pharmaceutical companies is on the rise given the global effort to attain net zero of carbon emissions as well as attaining other targets for the sustainable development goals. The pharmaceutical industry plays vital role in the manufacturing and distribution of medications, and therefore sustainability issues are critical for the survival of the industry. However, the adoption of sustainable practices in the upstream pharmaceutical industry is still low, and there is lack of empirical research in this area, particularly in emerging economies like Ghana. This study aims to fill this gap by examining the level of adoption of sustainable supply chain practices, focusing on the role of the policy framework, the influence of these practices on company performance, and the role of top executives in ensuring sustainability. The study utilizes a mixed method approach and leverages the upper echelon theory to explore the role of managers on sustainable supply chain practices. This dissertation explore the state of the upstream pharmaceutical Sustainable Supply Chain Management practices in Ghana, evaluate the role of the upstream pharmaceutical policy framework of Ghana on supply chain sustainability, identify how upstream pharmaceutical Sustainable Supply Chain Management Practices influence the performance of pharmaceutical companies in Ghana, and to examine the role of top management in ensuring upstream pharmaceutical sustainable supply chain management practices in Ghana. By addressing the above objectives, the study promotes academic debate and provides insights for policy directions in the pharmaceutical industry for sustainable growth and development. The research design includes both explanatory and exploratory approaches, with a concurrent/parallel mixed methods design combining quantitative and qualitative data. Specifically, the concurrent triangulation design mixed method was adopted. The target population was employees of locally owned upstream pharmaceutical companies in the Greater Accra region of Ghana. From a finite population of about 2000, stratified and purposive strategies were used to select 18 participants under the qualitative aspect, while random sampling technique was used to select 334 for the quantitative aspect of the study. Therefore, the total sample size for this study was 352 participants. Data collection involved the use of questionnaire and structured interview guide, and data analysis included structural equation modeling for quantitative data and thematic analysis as well as content analysis for qualitative data. Quantitative results indicated that Sustainable Supply Chain Management practices have a positive significant association with Sustainable Supply Chain Management performance for upstream pharmaceutical companies. Results showed that, there was positive impact of Top Management Commitment on Sustainable Supply Chain Management to performance. Furthermore, there was justification for Top Management Commitment as a moderator on the association between Sustainable Supply Chain Management practices and Sustainable Supply Chain Management performance. The study's findings on sustainable supply chain management practices in the upstream pharmaceutical sector in Ghana have significant theoretical, managerial, and policy implications. The interviews revealed the importance of socially inclusive practices, eco-friendly manufacturing, waste management, supplier involvement, and collaborations are important factors to consider in achieving sustainability goals. Theoretical implications include the recognition of responsible sourcing as a crucial component of sustainable supply chain management and the importance of socially responsible human resource management strategies. Managerially, the adoption of green manufacturing practices, waste management, and supplier engagement are highlighted as strategies for enhancing sustainability. Policy implications emphasize the need for supportive policies and regulations that promote responsible sourcing, green manufacturing, waste management, and supplier engagement in the upstream of pharmaceutical industry. The study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence of the positive association between sustainable supply chain management and organizational performance. The role of top management in ensuring the adoption and implementation of sustainable supply chain management practices is crucial, with implications for leadership, resource allocation, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement. Policy-wise, support for sustainable supply chain management practices and capacity-building initiatives are crucial for the adopting and implementations of these practices within the pharmaceutical industry. Overall, the study provides insights for theory, practice, and policy to enhance sustainability in the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Sustainable supply chain management and the UN sustainable development goals: exploring synergies towards sustainable development

PurposeDespite the growing interest in the field, the literature overlooks how supply chains influence or interact with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To fill this gap, this study aims to assess the influences of Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) on the implementation of the UN SDGs.Design/methodology/approachA systematic literature review of 97 publications was carried out by using the Web of Science database and the support of ATLAS.ti software. In addition, this research also explored how the top 20 Forbes companies are aligned with the SDGs by analysing their sustainability reports.FindingsThe findings suggest that the literature and the analysed companies primarily concentrate on certain SDGs while neglecting others, revealing potential areas of interest for future research. Based on the findings, the study provides valuable insights into the connections between SSCM and the UN SDGs, highlighting the potential benefits of SSCM in reducing environmental, social and economic pressures and contributing to sustainable development. It also identifies areas where further research and policy development are needed to maximise the potential benefits of SSCM.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors' knowledge, no other studies have conducted a comprehensive exploration of the literature linking SSCM and the SDGs framework. Moreover, the study differs from others since it combines research data with practical information from company reports, to identify specific issues related to supply chain management.

The Impact of CSR on Sustainable Innovation Ambidexterity: The Mediating Role of Sustainable Supply Chain Management and Second-Order Social Capital

As the concept of corporate social responsibility advances, it is crucial to recognize the broad roles of sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) influencing the implementation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This research contributes to the expanding field of CSR, sustainable innovation ambidexterity (SIA), sustainable supply chain management (SSCM), and second-order social capital (SOSC). This research produced a theoretical framework based on social exchange theory, social capital theory, and Carroll’s CSP model to investigate the impact of CSR on SIA, SSCM, and SOSC. Furthermore, this study examined the mediating effects of SSCM and SOSC on the correlation between CSR and SIA. Additionally, this study presents a model to explain the impact of SSCM and SOSC on SIA. This study concentrated on top-level managers of several manufacturing businesses situated in Pakistan. A total of 42 manufacturing businesses were chosen utilizing a convenience cluster sampling method. As per the results of this research, CSR was discovered to have a positive impact on SSCM, SIA, and, SOSC. Moreover, SOSC and SSCM were found to be in a significant relationship with SIA. Finally, SOSC and SSCM fully mediated the relationship between CSR and sustainable innovation ambidexterity. This research can guide companies by effectively delivering their finances in CSR initiatives. The findings also suggest that companies should concentrate on improving their CSR initiatives because CSR has a significant effect on SIA. The SDGs provide a road map for companies that can assist them to tactically manage their CSR initiatives according to the international and national sustainable development guidelines. Hence, the CSR–SDG tie is essential for the improvement in the role of CSR in sustainable development. Moreover, to improve and measure SSCM, SOSC, and SIA, policymakers and general managers should devote efforts to CSR.

Power in sustainable supply chain management: A systematic literature review

Sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) is becoming a strategic necessity for multiple companies. Successful implementation of SSCM is dependent upon inter-firm relationships and inter-organisational coordination instruments. This work aims to explore the role of power in diffusing sustainability along supply chains. A systematic literature review covering 63 publications in peer-reviewed academic journals was conducted. The literature is reviewed according to several perspectives, including methodologies, units of analysis and theories adopted. The core of the literature explores power in the context of SSCM, contextualising findings against the power matrix and the bases of power, which are adopted as theoretical lenses. Findings reveal that: (i) power is predominantly viewed as a dyadic concept, with fewer studies exploring power dynamics in multi-tier sustainable supply chains; (ii) buyer dominance is considered an enabler to SSCM and supplier dominance is considered a barrier to SSCM, as a result of focal company-driven SSCM programs and prevailing commercial logics being applied to the sustainability domain; (iii) power symmetries, particularly independence between supply chain organisations, and related implications for SSCM are under-researched themes; (iv) mediated bases of power, particularly coercive power, are effective to diffuse sustainability under context-specific conditions, but limit long-term sustainability management development; (v) non-mediated bases of power favouring a more relational approach are widely considered as an enabler to the diffusion of SSCM. This work contributes to the sustainable supply chain management literature by providing the first contextualised understanding of the role of power in SSCM, elaborating on the power-related circumstances that enable or impair the diffusion of sustainability in supply chains. Examining the antecedents and consequences of sustainable green supply chain management from the perspective of ecological modernization: evidence from Taiwan’s high-tech sector

In recent years, environmental sustainability has stimulated enterprises worldwide to not only develop green and sustainable innovations but also to move toward green and sustainable supply chain management. This study integrated the ideas of green supply chain management (GSCM) and sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) to define sustainable green supply chain management (SGSCM). Previous studies on GSCM/SSCM have contributed to research and practice, but few have explored the antecedents and consequences of GSCM/SSCM simultaneously. To address this research gap, we linked ecological modernization (EM) theory with SGSCM and sustainability performance to build a comprehensive research model. A total of 300 valid questionnaires were collected from electrical and electronics firms in Taiwan. The empirical results demonstrated that awareness of and pressure to engage in EM significantly positively affected SGSCM. Moreover, SGSCM significantly positively influenced sustainability performance (i.e. environmental, economic, and social performance). These findings should convince enterprises to actively promote SGSCM.

Sustainable supply chain management in tourism: a systematic literature review

The tourism industry was seen as one of the main beneficiaries of globalisation prior to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, while tourism is a major driver of economic growth and social well-being, a transformation of the industry towards more sustainable practices along the tourism supply chain (TSC) is needed to ensure that sustainable development goals can be reached. As sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) practices are critical for this transformation, the present study maps previous research on SSCM in tourism within a systematic literature review. Based on an analysis of 44 peer-reviewed journal papers, we found a strong emphasis on tour operators, hotels, and transport providers being concerned with practicing SSCM while actors managing the destination (e.g., Destination Management Organizations) have rarely been studied. Sustainability practices in TSCs can be enhanced by linking traditional and non-traditional actors on the multiple tiers and levels of a tourist destination. We accordingly propose potential research avenues to stimulate future research activities.

A Bibliometric Evaluation of Sustainable Studies in the Field of Supply Chain Management in Accordance with Sustainable Development Goals

Objective: The aim of the research is the bibliometric analysis of the studies on "Sustainable Supply Chain Management" in the Web of Science (WoS) database. Theoretical Framework: In the study, a research was conducted in the selected categories in the WoS database on the keywords identified in the field of sustainable supply chain. Method: The visual analysis of the results was supported by the VoS viewer software. In the research, the period of 1975-March 2024 was taken into consideration as the date range and 484 studies were conducted. Results and Discussion: The most studies were conducted in the Management category with 68.59%. The study with the highest citation is “From A Literature Review To A Conceptual Framework For Sustainable Supply Chain Management” by Seuring, S. and Müller, M. in 2008. The country that supports the studies the most is the USA; the institution that contributes the most is the University of Kassel and the most productive source of published studies is Supply Chain Management an international Journal. Research İmplication: In order to guide those who will conduct detailed studies in the field of sustainable supply chain, keywords and the most cited publications in the field were examined. Originalityt/Value: It creates a roadmap for those who will work in the field by revealing the most popular and up-to-date information made in the specified date range under the title of “Sustainable Supply Chain Management”.

To Explore the Relationship Between Sustainability, Digital Technology, and Sustainable Development Goals

In the era of rapid technological advancement and growing global challenges, the interaction between sustainability, digital technology (DT), and sustainable development goals (SDGs) presents a vital opportunity for transformative action. This convergence opens doors to innovative solutions for addressing critical environmental and societal issues while advancing economic progress. Therefore, this study aims to explore the intricate relationship between sustainability, digital technology, and SDGs. A systematic literature review and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta‐Analyses (PRISMA) protocol have been used to comprehend the impact of DT on promoting SDGs across diverse sectors while enhancing sustainability. By analyzing the 141 articles, it could be concluded that achieving sustainability by adhering to the SDGs requires effective integration of DT and a thorough understanding of the policy reforms and SDG knowledge that support both sustainability goals and digitalization. The findings also indicate that achieving the SDGs in the era of digitalization relies on the collective and collaborative ability to leverage digital technology as a crucial tool and resource for positive transformation while mitigating its adverse impacts. Furthermore, the successful integration of DT with SDGs requires a comprehensive approach that encompasses technological innovation, a supportive governance framework, and capacity building.

A Systematic Literature Review of the IT-Based Supply Chain Management System: Towards a Sustainable Supply Chain Management Model

The concept of sustainability has been highly valued by all aspects of life, while the supply chain plays a critical role in production and logistics. Supply chain management (SCM) is continuously transformed by information technology (IT). The purpose of this study is to review and discuss the effect of information technology-based SCM on sustainability. This paper conducted a systematic literature review by collecting author-anchored keywords from peer-reviewed articles on IT-based supply chain management. A total of 1264 articles and 2575 keywords from eleven supply chain-related journals were analysed with social network analysis. A knowledge map with ten research hot topics was identified. Additionally, a sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) model is developed not only to guide researchers to further understand IT-based SCM topical and structural meanings but also to contribute to enlightening a coherent and rigorous body of theories relevant to academics and supply chain and logistics managers interested in SSCM.

A Systematic Literature Review on Theories Utilized Investigating ThirdParties in Sustainable Supply Chain Management

The purpose of this article is to revise the literature on how theories have been utilized in investigating third-parties (for example, Non-Governmental Organizations, certifying organizations, among others) in Sustainable Supply Chain Management. Based on that, we derive future research directions. For revising the literature in a structured manner, the articles use the systematic literature review as the method of choice. Only half of the identified articles utilize theories for investigating third-parties in Sustainable Supply Chain Management. In addition, major theories are overweighed. This predomination leads to influencing the conceptualization of third-parties in Sustainable Supply Chain Management. Future research opportunities exist in broadening the utilization of theories and methods applied in the field, investing in under-explored aspects and broadening the scope of testing and building frameworks. Based on the synthesizing, propositions supplement future research directions. The novelty of this article lies in its investigation of how theories have been used in investigating and conceptualizing third-parties in Sustainable Supply Chain Management. By that, it contributes with a state-of-the-art view on the important topic of sustainability and how third-parties could solve sustainability challenges. With that, the article is a first attempt and step for extending the academic literature and practice with rethinking classic ways of managing sustainability and utilize out of the box ideas.
