Abstract
Turnip ‘Purple Top’, was planted 3 km west of Webbers Falls, OK, on 10 Apr. Plots consisted of a single row 6 ft wide and 50 ft long. Experimental design was an RCB with four replications. Treatments were applied 2 May with a CO2 pressurized backpack sprayer equipped with 3 Tee Jet 80015 nozzles calibrated to deliver 23 gpa at 40 psi. All treatments included Thoroughbred surfactant at 0.25%. Insecticide effectiveness was assessed by rating the number of turnip aphids on each of 15 randomly selected plants per plot at 3 DAT. The rating scale was 0 aphids per plant = 0, 1 25 = 1, 26 50 = 2, 51 100 = 3, 101 250 = 4, >250 = 5.
