Abstract

1. The possibility of using the method of characteristic parameters for evaluating the process of deformation of structural elements of materials that gain or lose strength in creep in steady-state and nonsteady-state regimes under conditions of proportional loading was experimentally substantiated. 2. The possibility of selecting the coordinate of the characteristic point at the point of intersection of the graphs of elastic and steady-state distribution of the equivalent stress was experimentally substantiated. 3. The dependence was demonstrated of the coordinate of the characteristic point on the selection of the equivalent stress in the determining equations. 4. The method makes it possible to use directly uniaxial creep diagrams for evaluating the process of deformation of a number of structural elements operating under conditions of creep and also to determine the characteristics of material (e.g., in torsion) by testing thick-walled specimens.
