Abstract

Currently, the small-section concrete piles foundation is applied relatively much for low-rise residential buildings in weak geological areas. This study assessed the longitudinal force - bearing capacity of small-section concrete piles on soft ground by static load test. The aim of the research is to evaluate the bearing capacity of single concrete pile. Piles were tested according to the procedure specified in TCVN9393: 2012. The results show that the bearing capacity of 15x15 cm concrete piles can be equal to 2 tons in the case of previously reinforced buildings, or old foundations, and 1.5 tons in other cases. The results of this study will contribute to the orientation for investors, design consultants, construction quality management agencies to select the appropriate foundation plan in weak geological conditions and for low-rise buildings.
