Abstract

The amount of carbon sequestration that can be stored by several types of land cover such as in an agroforestry pattern. This research was conducted in Marjanji Asih Village, Hatonduhan District, Simalungun Regency and at the Forest Products Chemistry Laboratory, Faculty of Forestry, IPB University. The study was conducted in 18 sample plots which are considered to represent the area under study. The sampling intensity was 48%. Sample plots were using systematic sampling. To determine the water content and carbon content of litter, it was carried out in the laboratory. Based on the type of rubber stand, the results of the water content in the two stands was varied. The average biomass in rubber monoculture was 3.05 ton/ha and in rubber agroforestry was 2.71 ton/ha, respectively. The average total litter carbon produced in rubber agroforestry was 0.56 ton/ha and the average total carbon in monoculture was 0.71 ton/ha, respectively.
