Abstract

In this study, illuminance on horizontal surface based on a proper method was estimated. In respect to no available data regarding irradiance, sky luminance and illuminance in Iran, computing horizontal illuminance by the IESNA method could be the viable alternative. An illuminance measuring set was designed for measuring horizontal illuminance for standard times over 15 days in 1 h intervals from 9 am to 3 pm at three measuring stations (Hamadan, Eshtehard and Kerman). These data were used to confirm calculated data. Minimum, mean and maximum values of measured illuminance in clear sky were found to be 53, 96 and 129 Klx, respectively. Results showed a good correlation between measured and calculated data (r = 0.703).
