Abstract

Field methods for the estimation of groundwater unit draft are not fully reliable due to non-uniformity of draft in the time domain. In India, use of norm values recommended by the Groundwater Estimation Committee is in common practice. In this study, a computational method for groundwater unit draft estimation for irrigation sources is proposed. This study presents an estimate, projection and analysis of groundwater draft in the different district of Rajasthan State. using the norms of GEC-1997 unit draft as 0.52 and 2.28 ha-m for dug wells and deep tube wells, respectively, annual groundwater draft for irrigation in this area is estimated to be 1524609 ha-m , out of which (10.53%) is withdrawn using diesel pump.
