Abstract

Early nutritional optimisation has been shown to lead to good long term growth and developmental outcomes of neonates especially preterm1. Standardisation of practice2 results in reduced introduction time of parenteral and enteral nutrition, improved use of breast milk, and reduced length of stay3. In recent years the need for multidisciplinary nutrition support team in neonatal units to achieve the best outcomes neonatal infants has been recognized4.
