Abstract

The karyotype ofSalamandra salamandra (Urodela, Salamandridae) was analysed from squash preparations of adult testes. The 24 chromosomes, ranged in decreasing order, can be classified into three principal groups of 8 chromosomes each. Only the elements composing the 2nd group can be identified individually by means of their length or arm-ratio.
