Abstract

The radical cations of (CH 3) 2CCH(CH 3) as well as CH 3CHCH2 exhibit a large CH proton coupling which may not be explained by the planar structure. Twisting arond the CC bond is suggested, because a hyperconjugative effect is expected to give a large β coupling for the CH proton in the twisted structure.
