Abstract

Sabuncuoglu Serefeddin (1385-1468), a Turkish physician of the 15. century, has a very important place in Turkish medical history. Sabuncuoglu Serefeddin, who worked as a physician in Amasya Darussifa for 14 years, is not only clinician, researcher and educator, but also draws attention to ethical rules and gives advice for his students and young colleagues. Three important works of the author are known. These are Terceme-i Akrabazin, Mucerrebnâme and Cerrâhiyetu’l-Hâniyye. The most important one “Cerrâhiyetu’l-Hâniyye” was transcribed by Ilter Uzel and published in two volumes in 1992. In addition to the transcribed text in the first volume and the same volume in the second volume, the information given in the first volume and the information given about Sabuncuoglu Serefeddin and his works and the comparison of the copies of Cerrahiyetu’l-H^^aniyye are of great importance in terms of the history of science.
