Abstract

After a brief introduction into the traditional technique for erecting arch bridges, a brief overview of various current erection techniques is given. Four erection projects carried out in the 1990s are presented as examples. Two of the projects used longitudinal launching methods and two used cantilevered methods of erection. The four examples demonstrate the wide variety of modern arch bridges in Europe.
