Abstract
This is a biography of Renaissance humanist, Erasmus of Rotterdam. It is an account of the philosopher's journeys from his monastery to service with a great Burgundian bishop and from there to Paris, England, the Low Countries and Switzerland, looking at the history of ideas in which Erasmus played a role. The book also studies all Erasmus' early writings including his letters, his contributions to Renaissance dialogue and essay and particularly Adagia, the Colloquies and In Praise of Folly.
