Abstract

Epidote minerals: clinozoisite, pistacite and piemontite, are widely distributed in regional metamorphosed rocks, especially in green metamorphic rocks in the eastern part of the Kanto Mountains. Here, (1) the composition variation of epidote minerals with increasing grade of metamorphism roughly estimated from their optical angle, (2) the chemical, optical and X-ray properties of a clinozoisite and a pistacite are shown.
