Abstract
There is data on a definition of the febrile seizures (FS) in children and modern epidemiological data of prevalence of FS in Russia and other countries in the review. Methods: The literary search of available full text publications in foreign and Russian databases is carried out. Results: FS are characteristic for children aged from 6 months till 3 years, with peak in 18-22 months of life. The causes of development of FS still serve as a subject of discussions. The positive family history of FP can be taped at 25-40% of patients. Prevalence of FS in the countries of Europe, the USA, Canada makes of 2-5%, the raised indicator of occurrence of FS in certain geographical regions of 8-14% (the country of South East Asia, Mariinsky Islands) becomes perceptible. In Russia the exact indicator of prevalence of FS in isn't established. Researches are conducted locally, true epidemiological data on a problem is not known. Conclusion: The analysis of literature testifies to need of carrying out epidemiological monitoring of development of FS in children at the age of 5 years, especially in patients with the positive family history.
