Abstract

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of varicella in Nyingchi city from 2006 to 2017, so as to provide reference for the implementation of varicella vaccination in Tibet Autonomous Region. Methods Descriptive epidemiological methods were used to analyze data of varicella outbreaks in Nyingchi city from 2006 to 2017. Results A total of 1 440 varicella cases were reported from 2006 to 2017. There was no death case reported. The average annual incidence was 60.22/100 000. The highest number of cases was in 2016. There were case reports in every month and in every county or region, mainly in Bayi district, Nang county and Mainling county. The ages of the cases ranged 7-25 years old. For occupational distribution, the cases were mainly students. There were 57 public health emergency events caused by varicella, accounting for 25.91% of all public health emergencies in schools (57/220). Conclusions The prevention and control status of varicella in Nyingchi city was still critical in recent years. Varicella vaccine should be enrolled in the children's immunization program as soon as possible. Key words: Varicella; Epidemiological feature; Disease control
