Abstract

Romme et al (Pediatr Cardiol 2021;42:1126–1132, PMID 33837839) performed a retrospective review on the use of P-wave centric ambulatory monitoring in infant patients <10 kg in weight and 0–15 months of age. The Carnation Ambulatory Monitor (CAM) by Bardy Diagnostics currently is recommended for patients weighing >10 kg. The CAM was placed for 48 hours on 25 study patients for a total of 33 reports. Indications for placement were tachyarrhythmia, bradyarrhythmia, ectopic rhythm, and other. P waves on the CAM were compared to the p wave in lead aVF on a standard 12-lead electrocardiogram, with 77% similarity in morphology amplitude and duration.
