Abstract
Social capital improves the behavior of individuals towards natural resources management (Pretty, 2003). Early studies in the field examined the influence of social capital on agricultural issues (Flora, 1995), on solid waste management in India (Beall, 1997) and on sustainable management and rural intensification (Bebbington, 1997). But there are only few studies, providing evidence on macro level (Dulal et al., 2011; Grafton & Knowles, 2004; Peiro -Palomino & Picazo-Tadeo, 2019). In this work we estimate the effect of social capital on environmental health, which captures the information about air quality, sanitation and waste management, on a panel of countries.
