Abstract

Environmental impact assessment is now routinely included in project planning, but the variety of methodologies available and the constraints on resources in developing countries sometimes make it difficult to select the appropriate assessment tools. This article reviews some of the methodologies available and assesses their strengths and weaknesses with the help of Indian case studies.
