ENGLISH ABSTRACT Entrée Texts and Art Experiences – Dioramas in the Subject Norwegian In the article, the author presents and explores a didactic text she has developed herself, called entrée texts. These are intended to facilitate art experiences in encounters with visual art, by activating the viewers’ senses and imaginations. The author of the article writes from a Norwegian academic context, and the theoretical exploration of the entrée texts takes place, considering theories from Hohr, Rosenblatt and Iser. From Hohr, the author relies on his definition of what an art experience is, and from Iser and Rosenblatt, the author draws on central ideas and concepts from the reader response theory. Five distinctive features of the entrée texts are emphasized and discussed: composition, dialogue, imagination, emotions and senses, and associations and interpretations. The theoretical discussion further examines the principles on which the didactic genre is based and how texts can be situated within a more holistic didactic context, where Bakhtin’s concepts of “voice” and “dialogue” are actualized. The entrée texts used as examples are both created for two dioramas in Eiring´s series, Bad Mice. The article concludes that the entrée texts offer a didactic strategy for approaching visual artworks. They are insistent in form, they model and suggest, while at the same time holding back. The entrée texts make the “gaps” explicit for the viewer and can train the ability to compose with.
