The general objective of the research was to analyze the historical process of teacher education in the Normal Schools of the Education Institutes of Presidente Prudente and Presidente Venceslau, based on the reports of the retired teachers and egress in a way that is articulated with the History of Women and the History of Education. As a methodology, an analysis of bibliographic, documentary and oral sources was carried out, using the theoretical-methodological references of the New Cultural History and Oral History. As a result, it was possible to perceive that these institutions promoted the professional emancipation of these women, and it was possible to conclude that, even though they were often disseminating representations that sought to frame women's posture and work, the appropriations of the normal school students showed a critical posture regarding education and political participation.
