Abstract

This article discusses maintaining water quality in distributions systems and storage tanks. The article discusses the design of a retention circulation system for storage tanks to put water in high and take it out low, or put it in on one side and take it out the other. The key is to retrofit the system to ensure movement through the tank. Suggestions for inspecting tank vents, roof‐access hatches, and overflow are provided, along with procedures for line flushing, and calculations for determining water speed.
