Abstract
In this paper, the results of the research on linear and nonlinear optical properties of two organic molecules: 5-formyl-13-hydroxy[2.2]paracyclophane and 5-formyl-12-hydroxy[2.2]paracyclophane are presented and discussed. The studies were performed on both thin films and solutions. Thin films were obtained by spin deposition of the studied solutions molecules in DNA-CTMA matrix. Such properties like: optical absorption, fluorescence and third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) susceptibilities were determined. The molecules exhibit large transparency range in visible and an enhancement of third order NLO susceptibility at 1064.2 nm fundamental wavelength. An important χ(3) increase, ca. 50%, is observed when changing the OH substitution from para to ortho. The fluorescence measurements have shown the presence of a broad emission band in visible, well separated from the optical absorption.
