Abstract

When introduce real-time applications in wireless network environment, t is important to design how to guarantee several QoS requirements of the applications. This paper proposes a novel selective forwarding scheme in order to satisfy QoS requirements in the aspect of Delay and Reliability in multi-hop wireless networks. To achieve this purpose, we introduce the Relay Region by dividing the transmission range of each node into two regions: i) the region of the Delay requirement, and ii) the region of the Reliability requirement. This classification is determined by taking into account the traffic pattern arriving at each node. After realistic simulations using Random Way Point mobility model, the simulation results show that the proposed scheme can maximize the network utilization while satisfying the QoS requirements of real-time applications.
