Abstract

Cerium oxide/graphene oxide (CeO2/GO) nanocomposite has been prepared by solvothermal method in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and used as an excellent catalyst for Ciprofloxacin (CIP) degradation in water under ultrasound. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission and X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS) data confirmed that the CeO2 nanoparticles were successfully decorated on the surface of GO sheets. The degradation of CIP within 30 min illustrated that the as-synthesized nanocomposite was a stable, recyclable, and economical material for the degradation of antibiotic residues in environment.
