Abstract

The center-of-mass energy fluxes and kinematic limits for the production of negative pions and light fragments (p, d, t, 3He, and 4He) from ~1 GeV/nucleon CNO on CNO collisions are calculated using a statistical nuclear-fragmentation model. Both the calculated energy fluxes and kinematic limits exhibit fluctuations and a strong degree of correlation. The two features are important for the study of nuclear interactions involving cosmic rays as they do not appear to support a superposition-alone scenario.
