Abstract
Presents the results of independent energy determinations, one by ion-chamber measurements in a water phantom, one by film analysis in a lucite phantom, and one by the ion-chamber response ratio described by the authors. The energy differences are insignificant with regard to the corresponding mass stopping power ratios needed for calibration. The greatest variation exists for 6 MeV electrons, mainly a result of the steep slope on the descending portion of the ionisation-depth curve. Even in the worse-case situation, however, the differences in the stopping power values (L/ rho ) are less than 1%.
