Abstract
The influence of the correlation interaction of atomic electrons upon the double ionization cross section of helium by charged particles and the helium double ionization mechanisms is studied. It is shown that the “shake-off” mechanism should not contribute to the double ionization amplitude when only the first correlation correction is made. The asymptotics of the double ionization cross section at high collision energies is obtained.
