Abstract

Comment Personally, I feel that passage of the tracheal tube under direct vision should not result in a high incidence of misplaced tracheal tubes (endobronchial or too close to the carina). Nonedieless, the technique described by the authors may come in handy when tracheal intubation is performed by inexperienced personnel or during a particularly difficult visualization of the larynx. The technique, however, does not help the patient group (pediatric) at highest risk for misplaced intubation because infants and young children are typically intubated with un-cuffed tubes.
