Abstract

This paper describes a new fabrication method of encapsulation of a phase change materials (PCM) for storing and reusing high-temperature waste energy from an industry. Spherical PCMs were uniformly coated by metallic nickel by means of electroplating technology and then were examined experimentally by the cycle test of heating and cooling. The results showed that the PCM capsule coated with uniform layer of appropriate thickness has enough strength against expansion due to melting. This suggests a possibility of an innovative heat storage process using latent heat for promoting energy saving drastically.
