Abstract
The current state of knowledge regarding the dire socio-ecological situation of humanity is unprecedented. Simultaneously, the transformation of its institutions—including its economic institutions—has been insufficient. In order to successfully bridge the gap between knowledge and transformative action, this paper outlines a comprehensive framework of nine interrelated capabilities. The framework is based on a previously developed transformational learning theory and comprises three fundamental pillars: being new, thinking new, and acting new. In particular, it can serve as a source of orientation for educators engaged in the design of transformative pedagogical initiatives.
