A Review on Cloud and Mobile Enterprise Resource Planning Systems
  • Nov 1, 2021
  • Gonzalo Gonzalez-Murillo + 4 more

This article presents a review on the state-of-the-art of cloud and mobile ERP systems. This review was focused on the most outstanding contributions on the field. That is, it considers only papers published in journal indexed in the Journal Citation Reports. With respect to cloud ERP systems, in the literature it was found that the main contribution of the papers was in general focused on the following fashions: i) Factors, challenges, and frameworks for adoption, implementation, or migration of cloud ERP systems. ii) Role of cloud ERP systems on the organizational performance. iii) Development or design related to cloud ERP systems. Most of the papers were dedicated to the first fashion, whereas few papers have treated the third fashion. On the other hand, just three papers regarding mobile ERP systems were found. Another observation from the review is that cloud and mobile ERP systems are relatively new technologies on which the research interest by the information management, computing systems engineering, and IT community started around 2014. Most important observation from literature of the subjects of interest is that existing reviews are focused just on effective usage, adoption, and challenges of cloud and mobile ERP systems. In contrast to such reviews, the here proposed one contributes by performing a more completely review. Thus, it could be helpful to identify a lack or gap of knowledge and, in consequence, could orientate towards future research.

  • Darko Andročec + 2 more

On-premise and Cloud ERP systems have become a backbone of almost all businesses. Another recent trend currently in focus of both industry and academy is Internet of Things. The integration of Cloud ERP and the Internet of Things (IoT) should be looked as a new shift in business effectiveness and will have a great momentum in future. In this work, we propose the ontologically based model for the integration of the IoT and Cloud ERP systems by using Semantic Web services. To semantically annotate things as services, we plan to use recently published W3C’s SSN and SOSA ontologies. Furthermore, we plan to extend mentioned ontologies to include classification and descriptions of Cloud ERP APIs. Our integration model proposes usage of Semantic web services and AI planning technique to semi-automatically compose IoT and Cloud ERP services.

  • Edward Osei Kuffour + 3 more

This study examines the impact of Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (Cloud ERP) In the evolving landscape of digital transformation, Cloud ERP systems have emerged as strategic enablers of financial control and decision-making within Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This study investigates the differentiated impact of operational, tactical, and strategic ERP functionalities on Management Accounting Practices (MAPs) in Ghanaian SMEs. Drawing on the Resource-Based View Theory and employing Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 4, data from 98 respondents across 20 SMEs reveal that operational and tactical ERP dimensions significantly enhance MAPs, streamlining transaction accuracy, budgeting, and performance monitoring. Conversely, strategic ERP features show limited influence, suggesting underutilization in long-term planning and competitive positioning. These findings challenge conventional ERP narratives and highlight the contextual realities of SMEs in emerging economies, where short-term efficiency often outweighs strategic foresight. The study offers theoretical contributions by reframing ERP adoption through a multidimensional lens and practical guidance for SME leaders to prioritize modules that deliver immediate accounting value. A policy brief embedded in the recommendations calls for targeted interventions, training, sector-specific support, and strategic incentives, to unlock the full potential of ERP systems. This research advances the discourse on digital accounting transformation and sets a foundation for future inquiry into strategic ERP integration in resource-constrained environments.
