Abstract

Describes a continuing education programme designed and organized in Pakistan. This programme aimed at training Pakistani librarians to use modern techniques and new tools in providing technical services in libraries. Cataloguing and classification using new editions of technical tools were the major subject areas of training. The use of computers in technical services was also included. Five courses were conducted under the programme. The courses were financially sponsored by the Netherlands Library Development Project for Pakistan (NLDP). Discusses the rationale and prerequisites of continuing education programmes in technical services in Pakistan. Details of five courses are provided. To improve such programmes, some further steps are also recommended.
